Chris Samios
Free style Wrestling Coach – Claremont PCYC


  • First learned wrestling from his father George Samios, who represented Australia on numerous occasions in the sport including 1968 Olympic team section manager for wrestling .
  • Won successive state championships in WA throughout 1980′s in 74 kg division.
  • Has coached free style wrestling in Perth for over 30 years.
  • Has current Australian Sports Commission, coach accreditation in wrestling (Level One).
  • Has Level One referee accreditation from Wrestling Australia Inc
  • Pioneered the sport of Beach Wrestling in Australia
  • Coached numerous wrestlers over many years to state, national and international level, including Laszlo Kovacs who wrestled at Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
  • Was technical official at the 2000 Olympics, timekeeping at final matches.
  • Held senior positions in Wrestling WA Inc including the role of president for 15 years.
  • Currently honorary treasurer of Wrestling WA Inc.
  • Was board member of Wrestling Australia Inc for many years. This included the role of WAI treasurer.
